Ben Gore has been on a mission of mass destruction this year. After establishing himself in his native Florida, he’s made some SF missions that caused a lot of people to take notice of his raw power and style. Now fully hooked up with Stereo, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that we’ll probably be seeing some wood with Ben’s name on it at some point in the future. Keir Johnson recently tracked down Ben for us and got the following interview. Check it out.
Keir: Where are you from, where are you now, and who do you skate for?
Ben: I’m from Pompano Beach, Florida and I’m in San Francisco now. I skate for Stereo Sound Agency, MIA Skateshop, HIFI wheels, Billabong, Nike SB(flow), and Thunder trucks.
Keir: How did you first get interested in skating?
Ben: Some of my friends had boards back in the day so I was always trying to get my turn. Hurricanes would come and we'd go out with bed sheets and sail down the street. Just the rattling of the board under my feet felt raw, super thankful that its come this far.
Keir: What was your first board?
Ben: It was a hand me down Alien Workshop board.
Keir: Who was the first rad skater you ever saw skate in person?
Ben: Joel Meinholz in downtown Miami, he was front krookin this rail, saw him drive by steeze. Later that day I bought a board off him, thanks Joel.
Keir: Growing up in FL, who were the sickest skaters you'd hear about?
Ben: Joel Meinholz and Danny Renaud, Floridians like to have a good time and I’ll just leave it at that…
Keir: Skate Park Of Tampa, do you skate there a lot?
Ben: I’ve been there many times for the contests and always
have had a good time. I love all the people in Tampa but honestly I feel Tampa is the toilet of Florida.
Keir: Do you like to skate in contests?
Ben: Honestly I’m not a fan of skating contests but it’s good to get out and support your sponsors and overall you always end up having a good time.
Keir: What was it like going out to SF for the first time?
Ben: My first time out here it actually rained for two weeks straight and I didn’t get to skate at all. The second time made up for it though, cruising down hills for days kid!
Keir: Who did you skate for before Rasa?
Ben: World Industries sent me boards for a little bit but then they kicked two of my best friends off, so obviously I quit.
Keir: How did you get on Rasa Libre?
Ben: The homie Charlie Manty from Florida hooked me up with that. Rasa was ill and I’m super thankful for everything they did for me, Matt Field you’re the man! But, I’m riding for Stereo now and it’s pretty dope, all the mates are fun to be around and skating feels new again.
Keir: How did you get on Nike?
Ben: Nick Halkias, the southeast sales rep approached me and of course I was down.
Keir: What full video parts have you had so far?
Ben: I’ve had a few parts in my homies videos, but other than that my Rasa Libre part is all I got so far…
Keir: What kind of goals do you have right now for skating?
Ben: I just want to feel satisfied at the end of every day. I can’t wait to skate Florida this winter, paradise!
Keir: Thanks?
Ben: Mom, Dad, sis, Evan Kinori, Matt Field, Chris Pastras, Andrew Shusterman, Ramen Noodle, Charlie Manty, Rodney Johnson, Andy Henrie, Nick Halkias, John Alden, Chris Williams, Matt Cantor, George from the corner store, Yesinoi, all my homies and everybody that's helped me in the past.
