Spencer Fujimoto's history in skateboarding goes deep, he was down with EMB and had a full part in Love Child. After riding out the twists and turns that most skateboard careers eventually take, Spencer ended up in in New York working retail. He's now hung up his cash register and is back on the board! We're not sure if he's planning on mounting a full-on comeback, but we're definitely hoping to see some new stuff from via his family at In4mation soon. Alex Hansen recently caught up with Fuj and got the full scoup.

Alex: Being one of the golden children of the EMB crew who made pro status, give us a run down of who really stood out from that whole era and your most memorable EMB memory?

Spencer: James Kelch, Jovontae Turner, Mike "Wing Ding" Kao, Mike Carroll, Henry Sanchez, Rick Ibaseta, they were my role models. How'd I turn out? Ha - there are so many ill stories. I can't really say any one thing, skating, smoking, fights, filming, photos, tourists, girls, bums, homos, t-dogs, cops and robbers, you name it. But if you ever got to see Kelch do his killing spree rant, it was a twisted and scary but a funny as hell comedy routine that would scare the shit out of anyone walking by and had us all crackin the fuck up!

Alex: Did you know that Nike made a EMB Dunk??

Spencer: I didn't. I guess my sneaker game is a lil' off.

Alex: What are your thoughts on that?

Spencer: Where's my pair, Darin? I where sample size!!! AHaha

Alex: For the kids that don't know, what does EMB stand for?

Spencer: Embarko's most blunted

Alex: What type of mischief were you, Lee, Carroll, Sanch, and Chico into during your teenage SF years???

Spencer: Everyone kinda had their own lil' things. Me and Lee would get into a lot of trouble together. But with those 4 names... raves come to mind.

Alex: Aside from stand out video parts in Mad Circle's Let The Horns Blow, and World’s Love Child, give us a list of all the other video parts you’ve had?

Spencer: The ones that really stand out to me are the first video that I was in which was Santa Cruz's Strange Notes, RB Umali / Zoo York's Peep This, and Gold Wheel's Got Gold.

Alex: Dynasty skateboards was a company that you were pro for. How did that come about and was it originally meant to be all Asian skaters, how did you guys throw John The Man Reeves in the mix??

Spencer: JTMR and Donger were really close from way back in the day, the rest of us just kinda fell into place I guess. Oh yeah, I had some good tricks in the Dynasty 411 piece but it wasn't the best production. I was proud of some of those tricks.

Alex: You’ve bounced around residing in New York, LA, SF. In your opinion, what’s your favorite city and why?

Spencer: I've been in NY for 12 years now and I love it except the winter, but it's worth it. I love Frisco too, if the right opportunity presented itself to me I'd be there in a second. And for those who don't know, I don't really like LA that much. I need bucks to move back to LA. The only way to do it there is big so I would have to be set up real right.

Alex: Give us the deal behind the IN4MANTS clothing?

Spencer: Inf4mation started as a skateshop / boutique in Hawaii. My old teamate from Alphanumeic, pro surfer Jun Jo and 3 other homies expanded it to a full line of apparel and boards. And next up is the introduction of the team.

Alex: Aside from Ex-New Yorker Anthony Correa, who is affiliated? Are you gont to manage the team?

Spencer: Nah, I'm just Uncle Fuj. We got a crew - Jaime Reyes, Nikhil Thayer, Brad Johnson, Josh Sierra, Polish Derrick from Brooklyn, and Sean Kelling...

Alex: ho approached you to be a part of the Lucky skateboards?

Spencer: Greg Carroll made the deal.

Alex: Do you remember the story of the DC, Philly, and NYC Lucky roadtrip. Who was the crew? What went down?

Spencer: Henry, Jack Curtin, James Brockman (where's he at?), Kayshawn, Alex Hansen, and TM Marcel Turner. At the first spot we pull over about three blocks from the hotel and jump out to look at this spot. I left the keys in the ignition and had it in a red zone thinking it was cool. Next thing you know cops are behinds us. Long story short after k-9 units and a call to verify our rental agreement (Marcel left it in the hotel room) they let us off. One hour of traffic to get the first spot we're gonna skate. We get out and I literaly put my board on the ground and take a push when Kayshawn comes up to the van with a " I did something bad" face. I'm like, what happened? He goes "I was taking a piss and thought I had to fart, but I didn't and I shitted on myself." He had shit on his leg and it had ran down to his sock and sneaker. So we had to drive back to the telly in a van that smelled like a porta potty. Accidents happen, shit happens.

Alex: After Lucky, you jumped into retail and the NYC street fashion business. What shops have you worked for?

Spencer: My man Sean Kelling put me on, he got me a job at Max Fish and at Nort, the sneaker store. I then went on to manage Recon, which had the same owner as Nort. We moved the stores from the quiet Eldridge Street to the busy high profile Lafayette Street and combined both stores into one. After running Recon / Nort, I helped out at DQM for a few then I went to Stussy for a minute. Now I'm retired from the retail game! I'm back on the board now, its all good now! I also work with my close friend, Lucy, god bless her. Shout to my Moms, RIP. Don my steppops, Hansen, and my pops, In4mation, Diamond, Andy Henry at Nike, Santas Party House, and last but not least, 48 Blocks. Lifes good! Thanks and Peace.
